Shots and Immunizations

Program Introduction

Regardless of your age, immunizations are key to healthy living. Children, in particular, should receive immunizations to protect them from dangerous diseases. Thanks to available immunizations, diseases that were once widespread throughout our country are nearly non-existent. At the beginning of the 20th Century, there were about 4 vaccines available for the public to use. Today vaccines exist for diphtheria, whooping cough, chicken pox, tetanus, measles, rubella, mumps, polio, influenza, hepatitis B, and many others.

For information regarding available vaccines and when they should be received, please contact the Highland County Health Department, Public Health Nursing Division.
